Our sexuality and sexual, gender and relationship identities can play a huge role in our lives. They can also be fluid and change over the course of our lifetime. Regardless where you are on the sexuality spectrum, you and I will collaborate and find the unique stress and life management techniques that work best for how you're wired, your identities, your relationship structures and the world you live in (or want to live in.) My goal is to find out what that feels authentic and easy to implement in your life.I started as a sex educator in 2002, and spent years training and living in the sex positive arenas, and my clinical approach is solution focused, with extensive training in a number of somatic, cognitive and behavioral clinical approaches. I regularly provide resources and tools should you want to explore further on your own.I am heavily trauma informed and influenced by IFS (Internal Family Systems) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Techniques) and behavioral strategies. I also encourage clients to incorporate tools to manage life and relationship stressors, and provide resources for success. Exploring and unblocking the "behind the scenes" beliefs that are holding you back from living the life you want are valuable, and while I don't fixate on the past, your past influences your present, and we reflect on patterns when relevant (and the patterns you're repeating unconsciously), and their effect on your present life, so that we can hopefully process or heal past experiences and change them in service to your future self.I have done extensive training in sexuality, queer issues and non-normative relationships (such as authority exchange including 24/7; CNM/ENM/Poly) and how to best make them work in your life. It can be hard navigation non-normative relationship structures, especially when you don't have a support system to help you along the way. Sometimes you need support from some who has lived it and truly "gets" it by experiencing it on their own skin, rather than learning about it in a book or training. I am that person.I also have published on the unique needs of poly families : Centering the Experiences and Needs of Individuals in Consensually Nonmonogamous Relationships in Family ScienceI align myself heavily with modern trauma theory, and also queer theory and feminist theory. I am a bilingual speaker and child of immigrants, and have straddled two different cultures my whole life. Much of my life has been spent being part of different non-normative communities in NYC and SF. Born and raised in the East Village, downtown living infuses my way of being in the world, and am passionate about being a strong ally in your life.
